It’s Here! Electing our Future: A Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise Indianapolis

By The Center for Civic Literacy on September 18, 2015 in Civic Blog

It’s hard to believe it, but The Electing Our Future forums are upon us!  The first event kicks off this coming Monday, Sept. 21st at 6pm.

The Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce will take responsibility for this initial presentation. Which will include a brief description of where we are in the federal/state/local scheme of things; discussion of home rule/state authority; outline of Mayor, Council, Departments, Municipal Corporations and what each does. How does our governing structure/Unigov differ from that of other cities? How do we finance our city?

wfyiYesterday, we were able to promote these series on the WFYI No Limits radio show and talk more about why Hoosiers don’t vote.  Catch the recording here.

Special thanks to all the sponsors who have helped make these events possible:

Indy Chamber, Indy Public Library, Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, League of Women Voters of Indiana, Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, Plan 2020, WFYI, NUVO, Indiana Bar Foundation, Indy Urban League, Indiana Humanities Council, IUPUI, University of Indianapolis, Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives.
